44 Portland Place offers an extensive and changing programme of day, evening and weekend courses for mind, body and spirit, whether for personal development or pleasure. Courses run throughout the year and range from one-day tasters to those running a few months.

Joining courses or studio classes after September 2007

In order to enrol for a course at 44 Portland Place you need to become a member of the club.

To join, you’ll make a one-off annual payment of £10 in addition to your course fee.
The £10 payment will register you as either an annual Club member (for women)
or annual Associate member (for men) of the YWCA Central Club for the membership year
which runs from 1 September – 31 August. Your membership entitles you to a range of benefits which include:

• receiving subsidised course fees
• use of the lounge (male associate members must be accompanied by a female member)
• use of the café
• automatic membership of the Film Club
• automatic membership of the Book Group
• opportunities to attend and participate in a range of free and low cost events throughout the year.

You’ll remain a member for the entire annual period and retain your benefits regardless of
whether you enrol on further courses.

Fees, Terms,Transfers and Refunds
Provision of courses is subject to demand. In the event of recruitment failing we may have to cancel a course.

You will be given a full refund if your course is cancelled and a partial refund if it is closed before the scheduled end date. If, after enrolment, you decide not to attend a course, an application for a refund will only be considered if received at least 14 days before the scheduled start date. Any refund will be subject to an administration charge of £7. If, for any reason, you are unable to attend sessions or you withdraw from a course before its completion date, you will not be entitled to a refund.

Transfers
Transfer requests will only be considered if they are received at least 14 days before the start date of the course on which you are enrolled. There will be a £7 administration charge for each transfer.

Fees
Fees and are listed by each course.

We try to keep fee levels as low as possible. As we do not receive any public funding to support these courses, we regret that we cannot offer concessionary fees. We do not wish to deter anyone from attending our courses if they are experiencing financial hardship. If you find it difficult to pay the full course fee, please speak to a member of staff, as it may be possible to pay for some courses in installments. Reduced fees may be offered in certain circumstances.
