The YWCA Central Club was established in 1931, and in 2002 it relaunched in new premises at 44 Portland Place. Housed in a beautiful Adam building a few minutes walk from Regent's Park and Oxford Circus in London's West End, it provides the ideal base in the heart of London.
Portland Place was designed and built between 1774 and 1776 by the English architects Robert and James Adam. Number 44 is a Grade II* listed building, which retains much period style, including ornamental moulded ceilings and cornices, a carved fireplace and decorative ironwork. Aspects of the house have been refurbished in a more modern yet sympathetic style and the whole combines to provide a unique blend of the period and contemporary.
